Nancy Bell, LPC
“I worked with Nancy during a very dark period of my family life. The reason that we experienced such a positive, lasting resolution is the deep passion and effort that Nancy poured into it. I am forever grateful.”
Nancy Bell, M.S. J.D., is a psychotherapist who works with adolescents and adults who are facing significant challenges as well as those seeking personal growth. Trained in object relations theory, Nancy’s experience as a high school counselor, family therapist and lawyer also inform her flexible and practical approach. While offering a deep and meaningful therapy experience that leads to enduring change and growth, she is mindful that patients need practical strategies to manage immediate concerns and feel a sense of relief during the change process.
Nancy has a certificate in family therapy from the Family Institute of Philadelphia (1992) and has been studying object relations therapy with Paul Koehler at the Philadelphia Psychotherapy Center since 2011. She approaches her patients with a belief that their early experiences and attachments have shaped the way they see themselves, how they approach relationships and what they expect from life. She seeks to help her patients develop new ways of relating that lead to healthier connections to others and increased autonomy.
In addition to addressing mood disorders and anxiety, Nancy’s particular interests include:
school-related issues
academic and career decisions
intergenerational family conflict
trauma
infertility and pregnancy loss
separation, divorce and remarriage
adult children of parents who struggled with substance abuse or mental illness
adapting to life-cycle events such as marriage, childbirth, aging, illness and death
“With Nancy’s expertise, I was able to process and accept past trauma to move on to a happier and healthier life. I previously saw other therapists, but I truly felt Nancy was invested in actually helping me to overcome my issues to be a better version of myself.”
